Dondon Monteverde Releases Statement on "Honor Thy Father" Disqualification

Dondon Monteverde of Reality Entertainment the production house of Erik Matti's Honor Thy Father finally speaks out after he received a letter yesterday about the disqualification of the film due to "non-disclosure" of the participation in the Cinema One Originals Festival.

When the news broke out, Erik Matti was the first to share to the public about the fiasco on facebook and other social media expressed disgust that along with the shrinking cinema screenings of the movie, then comes this disqualification for Best Picture in the MMFF Awards.

After a few hours and with the hashtag #DemandForHonorThyFather trended on twitter. They finally released a full statement via Dondon Monteverde. Below is the statement posted on their facebook page.

Honor Thy Father Barred For Best Picture By MMFF Committee?

In an post by "Honor Thy Father" director Erik Matti, the MMFF Committee advised Reality Entertainment Roland Monteverde that due to "non-disclosure" of the participation of his film at the Cinema One Originals Festival as Opening Film, this would disqualify the film for Best Picture for the Metro Manila Film Festival Awards.

The director has posted dismay about several theaters that are removing the film from their line up to give way to the popular entries this year. Despite great reviews about the film from its earlier screenings, it was raved to be a contender for best film.

However, along with the post of Erik Matti was the letter that shows the disclosure of the film as it was shown in the Cinema One Festival. People took to social media in support of the film with the hashtag #DemandForHonorThyFather.

Power belter Apple Delleva wins McJim Dreamers Get Real Season 2

With their aspirations for stardom at stake, McJim Dreams Get Real Talent Search’s Top Six battled it out in an epic finale where power belter Apple Delleva from Cabuyao, Laguna emerged as this season’s champion last Monday, Nov. 9, at the Music Museum in San Juan City.

No pressure, just good old jamming, and this time with Mother Nature. “What makes this record special is that the birds from the area sang with me as well,” Sitti remembers. They went out of the studio to create an experience close to the jam sessions with friends or family music lovers have at home. And the results were better that Sitti has hoped for. “It was quite magical.”

This is also Ken Chan's first leading role in a telesrye which is already a challenging role for the actor.

Viewers will get excited with the transformation of Joey to Destiny in the following weeks. SM City Sucat sets the stage for the Philippine Jiu Jitsu Gi/No Gi National Championships

SM City Sucat is all set for high-adrenaline action as it hosts the Philippine Jiu Jitsu Gi/No Gi National Championships on August 29 and 30, held at the 3F Event Center. Over 200 jiu jitsu champs from all corners of the globe, including Vietnam, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, France, Australia and the US, are competing in the BJJ Gi and No Gi divisions, and Juniors and Children’s categories.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport, and a self-defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. It was developed to allow a smaller, weaker person to protect him or herself from a larger, stronger opponent by using proper technique and leverage.

After rounds of intense combat and strategic moves, skillful champions emerged victories. Among the gold winners were Wilander Ordinado of Team Deftac Riberio , male adults white belt division, and Vanessa Lu of Team Fabricio, female adults white belt division.

Acoustic balladeer TJ MONTERDE launches new single “Tulad Mo”

PolyEast Records acoustic singer/songwriter TJ Monterde is set to launch the new single and music video of “Tulad Mo” on Saturday, August 15 on PolyEast Records YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/polyeastrecords).

It’s been two years since his last studio album and TJ is back dropping the digital release of the new single “Tulad Mo”. With his latest effort, the YouTube singer-songwriter traded in the acoustic ballads from his debut album for a breezy, mid-tempo charm.

“I've always loved acoustic and I will always love acoustic music. But this time, it's quite different compared to my previous acoustic songs. I tried reinventing to do more up-beat, pop-ish kind of feel. You know, the same music you sing when you’re happy” said the 25-year old acoustic singer.

Eat Bulaga is 36 years in TV and has done a lot of things to keep things new and interesting to viewers, but they were also surprised with the the emergence of the 'accidental loveteam" of Yaya Dub Smash (Maine Mendoza) and Alden "Bae" Richards.

What is supposed to be just a small stint for All for Juan segment, Yaya Dub is the companion of Lola Nidora in one of the barangays that they visited. Alden was one of the guest for Eat Bulaga. Then things got cheesy when they started making "moves" showing interest in each other on live TV, which was an instant hit. Yaya Dub will do her dubsmash moves, while Alden does his charming look.

Robin and Mariel Expecting Twins or Triplets!?

I recently viewed the latest instagram post of Mariel  and Robin Padilla (I both follow them) and saw an surprising post that Mariel is now pregnant. It has been a busy year for the couple with projects of movies, television, and even tracing the Padilla roots in Spain.

Now that they are back, it was recently revealed that Mariel was admitted into the hospital, and later on posted the ultrasound pictures of their child. And what is more interesting is that they might be expecting twins or even triplets!

Richard Yap reveals secret to success

Richard Yap--actor, entrepreneur, father and husband--wears many hats and in order to sustain him with his different roles, a healthy diet, regular exercise and drinking milk are part of his routine.

"When I was a kid, I drank milk every day, once during breakfast and once before bed time. I give credit to my parents for instilling milk drinking habit which I apply until today. Milk equips me with essential nutrients to help sustain my busy schedule,” said Yap. 

The father of two grew up drinking Birch Tree because "it was the only milk that I liked."

Justine Joy is Filipino - Australian-based independent artist. Her independently produced debut album "Fly Away" is a testament of her fun and carefree spirit that soars high with her intense passion for music.  She spent her childhood years honing her talent in singing by taking a vocal coach, joining singing talent competition, and performing in numerous school plays.  In 2006, she was spotted by a dance talent scout  and persuaded her to be part of the newly formed hip hop dance crew “Gigabeatz” and went on to dance and sing with them until 2008.  Gigabeatz won and placed in the top spots in several local hip hop dance competitions such as “Looze Control” and “Groove Hills”, as well as performed at many local charity and nightclub events. In 2007, Justine was fortunate enough to dance with Gigabeatz as the front act to the acclaimed group “The Outlawz” created by the late legendary rapper Tupac Shakur on his 10th Anniversary Legacy Tour, at their Sydney show with local artists Lia Maja and Abel. The International Diabetes Foundation has reported that the Philippines has been named as one the world’s emerging diabetes hotspot having treated 3.2 million cases in 2014 alone. 

In its simplest terms, diabetes is a lifelong chronic condition that affects the body’s ability to use the energy found in food. For non-diabetics, the sugar and carbohydrates in the food are transformed into glucose, which the cells absorb in the bloodstream with the help of a hormone called insulin. Diabetics do not produce or do not have enough insulin in the body and therefore cannot absorb the glucose, which creates a build-up in the blood and often leads to more serious illnesses.

Nash Aguas Surprises Alexa At Her PressCon

Nashies got a treat at the PressCon launch of Alexa Ilacad as the latest BUM Ambassador. The launch inlcuded the live contract signing together with her mother and some Q and A from the media. But what sparked the interest of the NLEX (Nash-aLEX) fans is the impromptu visit of Nash Aguas after the Q and A bringing a bouquet of flowers to Alexa. 

The 'Bagito' love team posed for the cameras and interviews as both of them are now proudly part of the 'Black Army', a term for proud wearers of BUM.

Alexa and Nash also join in other BUM ambassadors like Miguel Tanfelix, Bianca Umali, Jane Onesa, and Ella Cruz.

DARREN ESPANTO: Ready For His Major Concert At MoA Arena

Months after battling it out at the ABS-CBN show The Voice Kids ending up as runner-up, Darren Espanto is set to face one of his biggest shows of his career: a solo concert at the Mall of Asia Arena.

This is not just an ordinary concert as just a few days before his scheduled concert, Darren will be celebrating his 14th birthday. Likewise, this young singer will be the youngest performer to hold a solo major concert at the Mall of Asia Arena just years after Lady Gaga performed at its inaugural.

Thus, the title of the concert “Darren Espanto D Birthday Concert.” As the concert nears, Darren is already excited and has been busy with rehearsals and preparations for the concert.
