Hope To See You This Christmas - The Backstory

The rhythms of each passing day have lulled, pushed, pulled and shaken us each into our new (I won’t say normal) courses. Over months, we have taken to new realisations and revelations of the soul. Some who had never touched a wooden spoon before have now become masters of the oven. Some have noticed that office hours have multiplied as work extended far past cubicle confines. Blazers paired with boxers have become a fashion statement, Some slept and slept and slept cashing in on years of sleepless nights from once working tirelessly. Some, a brave few, our front-liners have stayed on, fighting for us. After all, it was like we were in a backwards war, where the enemy was invisible and constantly around us and the only way to care for those we loved was to keep our distance and wear masks that hid our smiles from them.

I couldn’t help thinking— But what of those who have gone all these long months without holding the ones they loved? What of those who have gone many nights expressing their innermost desires and intimate moments through lenses and screens? What of those who had to bid a loved one farewell through an I-pad? What of wearing a mask under a shield, inside a car? —bubbles within bubbles removed from the life we knew? What of those who lost everything they once owned and were left with how’s and why’s? What about those of us who sat here waiting this whole time for someone to return and bring back a sense of the holiday spirit we were used to somehow?

ABS-CBN’s ANC reboots with brand new programming at its finest

The Philippines’ pioneering international 24/7 news channel is now hotter than ever with exciting lifestyle entertainment offerings

When leading Filipino media and entertainment company ABS-CBN celebrated in 2016 the 20th anniversary of its ANC channel, it was hailed in the media industry as a successful pioneer in Philippine broadcast journalism: a 24/7 channel devoted to news.

Through the years, ANC’s position was cemented as the gold standard and primary source of Philippine news and analysis for the country’s business and political leaders. And because the news was delivered in English, it also made significant inroads in reach in overseas markets.

Today, ANC, an international premium channel of ABS-CBN TFC, has continued to strengthen its brand promise to be the best, most reliable and relevant news channel about the Philippines. But with the consumers’ growing preference for a news channel fused with entertainment that informs, delights, and inspires, ANC underwent improvements in its original programming.

Asian American rapper Blahza teams up with producer OnlyM for another chillhop crossover

“The song has a classic mid-2000s crack rap feel like you could play it back-to-back with Nelly‘s ‘Grillz’ and no one would flinch.” - Surviving The Golden Age

Asian American hip-hop artist Blahza and Malaysian lo-fi producer OnlyM come together for another chillhop crossover: ‘Drugs’.

‘Drugs’ is a laidback track that envelopes the listener in waves of relaxation. Driven by moody but minimalist soundscapes and smooth beats, the latest collaboration between Blahza and OnlyM settles comfortably into a simmer, taking a step forward in its attempt to embrace subtlety and introspection sonically and lyrically.

Blahza shares about the inspiration behind it: “Everything in life is going good and everyday I’m getting closer to my goals. I used to relax by numbing my mind with intoxicants and I reference that heavily throughout the song. By the end of the song I ask what’s a better high than you? It means that you can get a high from the people around you, like your significant other, or from yourself. You don’t need drugs to get high.”

Ecstatic from her win, Mirasol tells her fellow overseas Filipinos: “Sa mga kapwa ko OFW at TFC subscriber, try n’yong sumali, walang mawawala, nasa work or nasa bahay man. Napakalaking tulong ang papremyo na pinamimigay ng The Filipino Channel. Salamat sa mga sponsor at sa TFC Win From Home.”

Eve Alai and Senara release another brand new single together: ‘For Life’

“Melancholic nu disco meet nu garage vibes lay over a modern house groove, with sultry pop vocal top lines and stabs reigning through. Think of a slowed down two-step remix of a vocal banger from the early two-thousands, this Asian collaboration has done a bit of digging around to carve their sound.” - Mixmag Asia

Singapore producer-songwriter Eve Alai collaborates with Sri Lankan pop artist Senara again on his brand new single ‘For Life’. The second single of his upcoming debut EP, For Life features Eve Alai’s signature blend of deep house and nu disco influences with relatable lyrics carried by Senara’s undeniable voice.

For Life was inspired by the sets of deep house played at nightclubs in Eve Alai’s native Colombo. “The song is catered for the dancefloor. This is what nightlife sounds like in my head. I want my song to move people physically, from a head bop to a full on shuffle”, declares the underrated producer.

Premiering Exclusively on YouTube on September 25

Globe Studios’ ‘Gaya Sa Pelikula’ Is All About Celebrating Queer Love

Admittedly, our perception of love — how to love, who to love, when to love — has been influenced  by all sorts of stories and tropes we see on the big screen and read in novels. In a landscape  dominated by straight leads, Globe Studios releases a powerful love story to show the queer  community that their own aspirational love stories are also meant to be told.

Globe Studios, who has in its roster, high-caliber and award-winning films like Birdshot, Goyo,  Hintayan sa Langit, LSS and Dead Kids, is back with their first ever narrative digital series that is  surely going to bring all the “kilig” and laughter in a refreshingly unique way with Gaya sa Pelikula  (Like in The Movies). The series is a love letter for and from the community in how it freely  presents queer love, all its feelings, and all its possibilities that can lead to a most-deserved happy  ending. Without exoticizing queer love, the story is presented in the most normal way possible.  For the LGBTQIA+ community, Gaya Sa Pelikula proudly banners - “It’s time to take back our  story.”

Turning the spirit of collaboration into a messy kind of fun, “Miss Me” is a brash, unapologetic kiss-off that takes a swipe at someone’s past relationships. According to Rhodes, he wrote the PC-inspired jam for all his exes who are trying to come back into his life, now that things are looking up and exciting. “They were nowhere to be to be found during the tough times of extreme depression,” he adds.
