I knew Martin Andanar years ago wherein they pioneered one of the first Facebook-interactive group for The Evening News (T.E.N.) which gathered thousands of members from all over the country and even beyond. And even with the changes that have happened with TV5 in the past years in which brought the formation of new news mediums such as Radyo5 and News5 which expands the networks reach to the masses.
Martin played a big part with these changes, and currently heads News5 Everywhere & TV5 Everywhere, which are very active online portals for news and information. He would also be very busy with his daily shows on Radio and TV, yet still finds time to work on his new passion which is podcasting.
He started podcast.ph back in August 2014, where he started Martin's Mancave which is a dialogue with special guest that are key figures in the country. Mostly political, but some are in special fields like art, music, and entertainment. Martin's Mancave grew attentions and listeners which paved the way to have move special programs catering to different interests.
Martin made these podcast in his "mancave" in Pasig where the interviews, editing, and meetings are made. He shared that it is one of his dream to own a radio station, and technically this dream has indeed came true. With podcasting easy to set up (although equipment, archiving, and website building is quite costly), it provides freedom in terms of not worrying about being undertime/overtime, censorship, and broadcast technicalities provides quick sharing, minimal staffing, and more liberty in choosing topics.
Some of the other podcast titles include Dreamscope (Looking into dream interpretations with Benjie Felipe), Dear Bayaw (A straight forward discussion of sexual issues hosted by Jun "Bayaw" Sabayton), Real Ghost Hunt (hosted by Deah Ricacho & Kim Rubina) and Real Crime to name a few. With these thought provoking shows, there were also podcast that showcases nationalism and heroism such as "The Noli Project", "RockEd Radio", and "Ramon Magsaysay Award Podcast".
With just a year in podcasting, Martin Andanar's Podcast.ph has indeed grew into a meaningful and influential site. Though we have to admit that podcasting in the Philippines is not a big compared to other countries, his project is making a good impact and people should hear it.
Martin Andanar indeed has a great vision with this medium, and it can actually lead into many things such discussions, debates, legal proposals, empowerment, and other forms of change. In my case, I'm again inspired to do better in my craft in blogging and videos.
With the upcoming elections happening soon, we can also look forward to future guests of Martin's Mancave to provide us with balanced, interesting, and bold discussion with political hopefuls, related celebrities, and personalities that will also be the influences for 2016.
The podcasts are availble in various formats and can be accessed via Podcast.ph. You can also check the website for show information, download links and schedules.
