Drew Arellano and Boobay goes "Choco Loco" in AHA!

It's Christmas time once again and it's a perfect season to enjoy the sweet taste of chocolates without an ounce of guilt.  Chocolates are a common gift item during Christmas and so kapuso host Drew Arellano and commedienne Boobay the Lakwatsera are preparing a boxful of suprises about the all-time favorite comfort food -- chocolate -- in this Sunday's episode of AHA!, an infotainment program which airs on GMA-7.

Hayate: The Combat Butler begins on Saturday in GMA7

Starting Saturday (December 8), get to know the newest anime characters that will surely bring bigger adventures every weekend morning with Hayate: The Combat Butler. It will replace Young Justice at 8:10 am.

Abandoned by his parents and given as a Christmas present due to a large debt, 16-year old Ayasaki Hayate is at the lowest point of his life. Desperately trying to alter his fate, he decides to kidnap someone to hold for ransom.

Due to wrong choice of words, the girl (Nagi) he tries to kidnap misunderstands his action as a confession of love. His plan is totally crushed when he gives his real name out. Realizing his wrongdoing, Hayate proceeds to rescue the girl from the yakuza who had instead kidnapped her.

As a token of thanks, the girl offers Hayate a job as a butler. Hayate, overwhelmed by her kindness, vows to protect her even at the cost of his life.

GMA Network seals strong Q3 financial performance

Reports P10.612 billion consolidated gross revenues for first 9 months

Broadcast giant GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) reported strong financial results for the third quarter owing to increased advertising sales across its major revenue platforms.

Consolidated gross revenues for the third quarter of 2012 reached P3.822 billion reflecting a double-digit growth of 13 percent from the P3.384 billion recorded in 2011, while net income rose 9 percent to P573 million from P525 million in the previous year.

Leading broadcast company GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) ended the month of August on a positive note as it led rival stations in nationwide TV ratings according to data from the industry’s more trusted ratings source Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Based on full August data (August 1 to 25 official data; August 26 to 31 overnight data), GMA registered an average of 34 percent in total day (6 AM to 12 MN) household audience shares in National Urban Philippines, 1.3 percentage points ahead of ABS-CBN’s 32.7, and 19.2 percentage points ahead of TV5’s 14.8.

I love singing competitions, and X factor is one of those that give way to many great singer/s. At first, I don't noticed the show, but since I get to see it on weekends makes me hooked into it. I came across the post of Kuya Carlo Yanesa, who is a music expert and a great singer himself as I can declare, I like to feature his two cents about his analysis on each of their performance.

Sorry I Don't Like This Dorm...

As much as I am very considerate for movie premiere nights I just felt I wasted so much time with delays unnecessary speeches and worst is uber-cliched film where the supporting actors acts better than the main characters. Dorm Boys was a re-adaptation from the movie Dormitoryo (Buhay Estudyante) made decades ago. I have not seen the original but I don't compare the past and present since the movie experience and detail is what I consider the most. 

Even though I just watched The Dark Knight Returns and The Healing, I still believe that even with independent movies and small budget films can actually par with them. However this would be given if the elements and acting would be exceptional. The problem with the movie is that there are too much pretty faces with weak characterizations which makes  it "unbalanced" and the characters also left me confused  what their real personalities are. The plot and cinematography is what I can say are OK with the purpose of leaving a message to the students of today but the overall feel made me irk. My friends actually left early because they don't liked it, but for the sake of fair judgement I stayed to see if it would turn better. The one and only scene that I liked was the confrontation between father and son.

The aim of the movie was to make the viewers think about the consequences of the unruly ways of college student life (cheating, drinking, women, etc), but as a student myself, I was not that moved even I do see myself in those situations, probably because the resolution in the end was not clear. There were also too many scenes where overacting is too much and unbearable for me. Plus it felt like I was not in a theater with so much noise from the cast who was there, but lets give it to them since its their movie (I also had these same senarios with other movies too). Sorry but in the end yung kalokohan yung natandaan ko not the moral.

Bilang pagpupugay sa natatanging kakayahan ng mga Pilipinong kompositor, muling inilunsad ng ABS-CBN ang pinakamalaking multimedia songwriting competition na "Himig Handog" na may temang "Pinoy Pop (P-POP) Love Songs." 

  

Sa ikalima nitong taon, muling lilikha ang "Himig Handog" ng kasaysayan sa larangan ng musika sa pagpapatuloy nitong pagtuklas ng de-kalibreng Filipino composers na may mga obra maestra na tiyak na tatatak sa puso ng mga nakikinig at mamahalin ng maraming henerasyon gaya ng ilan sa OPM classic love songs ngayon na sumikat sa pamamagitan ng "Himig Handog" kabilang ang 'Hanggang' na inawit ni Wency Cornejo; 'Kung Ako Na Lang Sana' ni Bituin Escalante; 'Kung Ako Ba S'ya' ni Piolo Pascual; 'Bye Bye Na' ni Rico Blanco; at 'This Guy's In Love With You Pare' ng Parokya ni Edgar. 

Reel Time presents 'Limang Maria" (A Touching Mother's Day Special airing this Sunday)

Sadyang hindi kayang ipaliwanag ang sakripisyong kayang gawin ng isang Ina: nasa hukay ang kanyang isang paa at may responsibilidad na habang-buhay na kailangang tupdin. Tunay na nag-uumapaw ang kanyang pagmamahal para sa pamilya. Ayon nga sa isang makata na si Robert Browning, sa pagiging ina nagsisimula at nagtatapos ang pagmamahal. Sabi pa nga ng ilan, ito ay isang sukatan ng pagiging isang ganap na babae. Pero ano ang kahihinatnan ng mga babaeng nabuntis nang maaga pero hindi pa handang maging isang ganap na ina?

Si Michelle Abrasaldo ay limang buwan nang buntis. Siya ang panganay sa limang magkakapatid na babae, at siya ang nakasaksi sa lahat ng sakripisyo ng kanilang yumaong ina sa loob ng maraming taon. May malungkot man siyang nakaraan, siya ay umaasang magbabago ito sa pagdating ng kanyang isisilang na anghel. Hindi na bago sa kanya ang pagkakaroon ng sanggol. Sa katunayan nga, mas nauna pa ang kanyang mga nakababatang kapatid na magbuntis at magkaroon ng anak. Ang mga anghel na ito ang nagbibigay daw sa kanila ng kaligayahan. Dalawa sa kanila ang naging ina sa murang edad.

Si Emily, ang bunso sa magkakapatid, ay naging ina sa edad na dise-sais. Tumigil sa pag-aaral, nakaasa siya sa kanyang kinakasama at kasalukuyang buntis din. Si Armen naman, dise-syete anyos nang malaman niyang siya ay nagdadalantao. Buong araw, wala siyang ibang ginagawa kundi alagaan ang kanyang limang-buwang anak na lalaki. 

Ang Limang Maria ay istorya ng limang magkakapatid na babae: tatlo sa kanila ang buntis, isang hindi sapat ang kakayahan upang maitaguyod ang kanyang tatlong anak, at isang naninindigang hindi matulad sa kanyang mga kapatid. XIAN, CERTIFIED RECORDING ARTIST NA

Singing talent ng isa sa 'hottest actors' ng bansa, ibibida sa "So It's You" album ng Star Records… 

  

Todo arangkada na ang career ni Xian Lim sa showbiz. Dahil ang isa sa mga pinakatinitiliang aktor ngayon sa bansa ay isa nang certified singer!

Mga Taga-suporta ni Myrtle sa Cosplay World, Nag-ala Avengers

Suot  ang kanilang mga costume, nag-ala “Avengers” ang mga cosplayers at mga kaibigan na sumusuporta kay Myrtle sa may labas ng  PBB House.  Si Myrtle ang #3 sa ranking ng pinaka-sikat na cosplayers sa bansa, sunod kina Alodia Gosengfiao at Ashley Gosengfiao.  Sa katunayan, tumalon sa higit na 200 libong  fans na ang bilang ng kanyang facebook fans matapos ang unang linggo pa lamang sa loob ng “Bahay ni Kuya” House.  Dala-dala ang placards na may mensaheng “I-save natin ang Cosplay Princess!”  , nag full force sila para ikampanya ang dalaga na para sa kanila ay huwarang teenager at dapat manatili sa loob ng PBB House. “Mahal namin si Myrtle! Araw-araw kaming nanonood ng PBB Teen Edition dahil sa kanya, ” sabi ng isang cosplayer. 

Galing sa isang magandang pamilya sa Iloilo, si Myrtle ay isang Accounting student sa UP Visayas. Matalino’t masiyahin, siya ay Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) President pa. Marami ang bumibilib sa napakabait at malambing na dalagang ito dahil nababalanse niya ang kanyang academics at extra-curriculars. Ang pagsali sa PBB ay isang bagay na noong una ay ayaw ng kanyang mga magulang ngunit namayani sa kanila ang pagmamahal sa anak na gustong gustong sumali at nangakong magiging responsable sa sarili at hindi magpapabaya sa pag-aaral. 

Isabelle Daza Tampok sa Finale Episode ng Spooky Nights

Dumaan man ang mga taon, hindi maikakaila na ang napakaganda at sexy na aktres na si Carmi Martin ay may asim pa rin.  Kung baga sa mga beauty pageant siya ay forever reigning queen.  Kaya naman tamang tama ang kanyang role sa episode ngayong Sabado ng Spooky Nights ng GMA-7 kung saan makakasama niya ang napakagandang female star ng siyete na si Isabel Daza.  Kasama rin sa finale episode ng show si Bubbles Paraiso.

Bianca King files for divorce from Luis Alandy

Viewers can expect a lot of dramatic confrontations in the afternoon drama, Broken Vow, as Bianca King’s character faces the toughest and most painful decision in her life in the episodes this week. 

After Roberto (Gabby Eigenmann) uncovered the secrets of Felix (Luis Alandy), he confessed to Melissa that her husband Felix and her rapist is one and the same person. Melissa is shattered and devastated by this revelation and feels betrayed by the man to whom she entrusted her life. 

Roberto urges Melissa to file a rape case against Felix and put him behind bars for his misdeed. He even hires a lawyer to help expedite the process. But according to their lawyer, Melissa cannot file a case unless she divorces Felix in court.

Nomer Limatog guests on Tropang Potchi this Saturday

Nomer Limatog, the youngest contestant in the talent search Protégé: The Battle for the Big Break, will guest this Saturday in GMA’s educational morning program for kids Tropang Potchi.

Nomer portrays Sab’s friend but unknown to Sab, he’s got a crush on her. He tries to impress her by helping her out in her school homework and projects. Sabrina feels Nomer is such a great help, but Sab’s ka-potchi Julian Trono, Miggy Jimenez, Bianca Umali, Liane Valentino and Lenlen Frial think Sab’s already going too far – she’s beginning to take advantage of Nomer’s kindness and makes him do all her assignments. What will her ka-potchi do to correct her attitude?

Also this Saturday, Sab and Miggy will take viewers to Negros, where they embark on a nature trip, discover the province’s rich artistry and history, and visit its century-old houses.

Tropang Potchi mamamasyal sa Bataan at Corregidor

Sa pagpapatuloy ng Pinoy Summer Special ng programang Tropang Potchi ng GMA-7, and probinsiya ng Bataan at isla ng Corregidor naman ang susunod na papasyalin ng mga kiddie cast nito.

Samahan sina Julian Trono, Miggy Jimenez at Bianca Umali sa kanilang excursion sa Bataan kung saan ay magpapakawala sila ng isang batang pawikan sa dagat sa tulong ng Pawikan Conservation Center.  Sa Bataan din makikita ang pinaka-malaking krus sa buong mundo – ang Dambana ng Kagitingan na itinayo para bigyang pugay ang mga sundalong nagbuwis ng kanilang mga buhay noong World War II. 


Mula Bataan ay nag-boat ride naman patungong Corregidor ang tatlo kung saan binisita nila ang tanyag na Japanese Tunnel, lighthouse at Malinta Tunnel.  Sa Corregidor, isang kakaibang activity ang kanilang sinubukan, ang magpataasan ng pinagpatong-patong na bato o tinatawag na rock balancing.  Sinubukan din ng tatlo ang kayaking.

Traditional Drama balwarte na ng GMA Afternoon Prime

Afternoon soaps ng Kapuso, tinatangkilik sa buong bansa 

Kung noon ay telefantasya ang entertainment genre na maituturing na balwarte ng GMA-7, ngayon pati traditional drama genre binakuran na rin ng Kapuso Network sa Afternoon Prime block nito.

Patunay dito ang malaking panalo sa ratings ng mga programang panghapon ng GMA-7 hindi lamang sa Mega Manila at Urban Luzon, maging sa National Urban Philippines din.

Ayon sa January 1 – March 16, 2012 data ng mas pinagkakatiwalaang ratings data provider na Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, wagi ang buong Afternoon Prime programming block (Weekdays, 2:30pm – 6:30pm) ng GMA-7 sa National Urban Philippines.  Nakakuha ang GMA ng household rating na 14.6 pts., samantalang ang ABS-CBN ay nakakuha lamang ng 10.9 pts. at ang TV-5 ay 6.6 pts.  Ang GMA-7 ay nagkamit ng audience share na 36.9% samantalang ang ABS-CBN ay nakakuha lamang ng 27.5% at ang TV5 ay 16.8%.

Kapuso star Gwen Zamora topbills international film “The Witness”

GMA 7 artist Gwen Zamora was chosen to be the lead actress of an international film “The Witness” which will also be shown in the Philippines this March.

After appearing in several television shows and local movies, Gwen embarks to a thrilling challenge in her career as an artist---showing the international audiences her acting prowess through The Witness.

Among the cast of the said film, Gwen Zamora is the only Filipina yet she assures the moviegoers that she did her best to be at par with her co-actors.

Gwen portrays the role of Angel Fordeliza Isagani, a General Manager of a hotel, who was transferred from Manila to the Jakarta hotel. She is haunted by strange dreams about a young man, named Aris, who attempted suicide by firing his own gun into his mouth.

Pilot ng "Hiram na Puso" wagi sa nationwide ratings

Win na win sa nationwide ratings ang pilot episode ng pinakabagong afternoon drama series ng GMA-7 na Hiram na Puso (HNP) na pinagbibidahan nina Kris Bernal, Mark Herras, Polo Ravales, Bela Padilla, Ayen Laurel, Gardo Versoza at Gina Alajar.

Ayon sa National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) data ng Nielsen, mas mataas ng 5.7 household rating points ang HNP nang mag-pilot ito noong Lunes kaysa sa katapat nitong Mundo Man ay Magunaw (MMM).  Nakakuha ang HNP ng 14.9 pts. habang ang MMM ay nakakuha lamang ng 9.2 pts.  Ang nationwide audience share naman ng HNP ay 40.6% habang ang katapat nito ay nakakuha lang ng 25.1%.

Valiente ng TV5, Lalong Umiinit Ang Kuwento

Walang duda kung bakit minamahal ng sambayanan ang kuwento ng Valiente nang una ito ipinalabas dalawang dekada na ang nakalipas. Kahit na lumipat ito ng istasyon noon, sinundan pa din ito ng mga manonood dahil mahirap bumitiw sa napakagandang kuwento nito.

Ang natatanging kuwentong ito ay natutunghayan na sa bagong henerasyon sa pamamagitan ng dramaseryeng Valiente na napapanood na ngayon sa primetime ng TV5. Hindi matawaran ang ganda ng produksiyon ng makabagong Valiente na sumasailalim sa masusing direksyon ng multi-awarded director na si direk Joel Lamangan.

Mabilis ang takbo ng kuwento ng Valiente at bawat eksena ay tumatatak sa mga manonood. Matapos ang pagkamatay ni Don Armando Braganza (Mark Gil), bulgar na ang kasakiman ni Doña Trining (Jaclyn Jose) na handang gawin ang lahat maangkin lang ang yaman at kapangyarihan ng yumaong asawa. Naganap na ang aksidenteng kumitil sa buhay ni Luming Valiente (Gina Alajar) sa kagagawan ng anak ni Doña Trining na si Theo (Oyo Sotto). Gaano katagal kayang itago  ng mag-ina ang sikretong ito na siguradong sisira sa matalik na pagkakaibigan ni Theo Braganza at Gardo Valiente (JC De Vera)?
