Fresh from her Filipino Expo performance in Tokyo on June 17, the Philippines’ Dance Empress is all set to return to Japan this quarter. This July 15, the multi-awarded performer will once again delight Filipinos and nationals at the “The Songwriter Meets the Wildflower” concert at the Handashi Fukushi Bunka Kaikan, 1-22-1 Kariyado-cho, Handa-shi, Aichi-ken 475-0918.
Salvador, who is the lead actress of the iconic series “Wildflower”, has been a frequent flyer to Japan whether for work or for leisure. The multi-faceted performer first performed for Filipinos in Kawasaki, Japan in 2008. Since then, she has since become a favorite, performing for TFC events such as “OK Go” in 2016. Apart from work, she has also made several leisure trips to the Land of the Rising Sun with her family and friends.
The country’s charm. If given the chance to stay long, she would like to live in Kyoto where she wants to experience the culture.
The food. She loves the popular Japanese dishes sushi and sashimi, and when asked if she were to compare herself to a Japanese dish, she injects humor and chooses sushi simply because “it’s fresh.”
The Filipinos in Japan. Salvador says her unforgettable experiences in Japan to date are the opportunities to perform for her countrymen.
And this coming July 15, perform she will for her kababayans at the Aichi-ken area and nearby prefectures for “The Songwriter Meets the Wildflower” with the iconic songwriter Ogie Alcasid, and host Eric Nicolas. Also hosting the fun games prepared for the event-goers is Tawag ng Tanghalan sa “It’s Showtime” grand finalist Makoto Inoue.
According to Salvador, “I am delighted to be part of these kinds of events because they bring together Japanese and Filipinos as one community.”
For TFC’s mid-year salvo, Salvador promises the unexpected for her countrymen who especially supported her widely followed series “The Wildflower”. Channeling her Lily Cruz/Ivy Aguas character and her famous lines, the actress ends, “Expect the unexpected. ‘Wag ako (Don’t test me). Kidding aside, we prepared for this for our countrymen so watch out for it.”
