Take delight in melodies of film with “Klassikal Music Foundation presents: Songs from a Silver World”

Young Filipino music students from different universities are set to take the stage with great songs from film classics at "Klassikal Music Foundation presents: Songs from a Silver World," happening on May 7, 2016, 7:30PM at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza.

Founded in 2007 by Dr. George T. Yang, McDonald’s Philippines Founder and Chairman, Klassikal Music Foundation (KMF) aims to help in the development and appreciation of local classical music. This is done by giving scholarships to deserving classical music students who otherwise cannot afford to continue their study of the very specialized field of music.

Dr. Yang, also known as one of the Philippines’ tenors with a passion for singing and classical music, will be giving a special performance during the concert. Audiences can also expect an award-winning performance from internationally-acclaimed soprano Ms. Rachelle Gerodias and the KMF Chamber Orchestra.

One of KMF’s distinguished scholars, Gerphil Flores, will also be delighting guests with her heavenly voice that got the nods of judges in Asia’s Got Talent last year. McDonald’s endorser and celebrity heartthrob Alden Richards will also grace the stage.

‘‘There is so much musical talent among our Filipino youth, and this evening will be a proud moment to celebrate. The scholars are truly world-class in their talents and the KMF is committed to support them in their musical endeavors,“ said Dr. Yang.

Over the years, Dr. Yang’s passion for singing has been strengthened with successful albums, concerts, and performances. Hand-in-hand with this passion is his strong desire to help the youth. Both passions come together in KMF. Since 2007, the foundation has supported 47 scholars, carefully selected from the country’s best musical talents. It currently has 22 scholars in its roster.

"Klassikal Music Foundation presents: Songs from a Silver World" is directed by Andrew Fernando, with musical direction from Hermenegildo Lanera, choreography from Richardson Yao, and light design from John Batalla. The board members of KMF include Dr. George T. Yang, Dr. Raul Sunico, Ms. Shirley Bangayan, Ms. Rosalinda Orosa, Ms. Lily Monteverde, and Ms. Rachelle Gerodias.

All proceeds of the showcase will go to the scholarship fund.

Tickets for the showcase are available for PHP1,000 (Orchestra); PHP750 (Loge); and PHP500 (Balcony) at Golden Arches Corporation’s office in Citibank Building, Paseo de Roxas, Makati City. For ticket inquiries, please call (02)813-0935 or (63)929-470-6538.
