Abi Marquez Named FoodPHILIPPINES Advocate Par Excellence for the Second Year in a Row

The recognition continues for culinary content creator Abi Marquez, who has once again been named FoodPHILIPPINES Advocate Par Excellence—a distinction she first received in 2024. 

The announcement was made during the “#BigTasteReveal: The 2025 IFEX Philippines Media Preview” held on May 15 at Casa Ibarra MOA in Pasay City, as excitement builds for IFEX Philippines 2025 this coming May.

Organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the annual KATHA Awards for Food celebrates innovation and excellence in Philippine food products. Since 2015, the KATHA seal has become a mark of quality and creativity in the industry, raising the bar for Filipino exports on the world stage.

Present at the event were IFEX Philippines Project Director Rowena Mendoza, CITEM Executive Director Leah Pulido Ocampo, Deputy Executive Director Malou Mediran, and CITEM Founder Dr. Mina Gabor.

Abi Marquez Scores Another International Nomination—This Time at The Telly Awards!

Abi Marquez is on a roll with international recognition! Hot on the heels of her second Webby nomination, Abi has just been announced as a double nominee at the prestigious 45th Annual Telly Awards, one of the most respected honors in global video and television production. This marks another huge milestone for the Filipino content creator who’s been steadily making waves on the international stage.

The nominations recognize Abi’s creativity, authenticity, and her commitment to uplifting Filipino cuisine for the world to see. And what's even more exciting? Both nominations are under the People's Telly Awards, meaning public voting will determine the winners.

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens—whether it’s broadcast TV, digital, or social media. Over the years, they’ve become one of the most recognized platforms for creators, producers, and media companies around the world.

Today, the Tellys receive over 13,000 entries annually from all 50 U.S. states and 6 continents. Nominees and winners include a wide range of content—spanning branded campaigns, documentaries, immersive experiences, and digital-first series. Being nominated is no small feat—especially for an independent creator representing the Philippines on such a massive stage.

‘Lumpia Queen’ Abi Marquez Wins People's Voice Award at The 28th Annual Webby Awards, Dedicates Win to the Philippines

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK—In a historic victory for Filipino talent, Abi Marquez clinched the People's Voice Award for Social - Food and Drink at The 28th Annual Webby Awards, making her the first Filipino independent content creator to win the prestigious accolade. 

This momentous occasion is not only a personal milestone for Marquez but also a significant cultural achievement, being the first time an individual entry from the Philippines has secured this category.

Dressed in a custom terno by Filipino designer Santi Obcena and styled by Pam Ricarte, Marquez took the stage at the iconic Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, where she accepted her award. In her poignant 5-word acceptance speech, she dedicated her victory to her homeland: "Philippines, this is for you!"

The nomination—one of five in its category and handpicked from out of 13,000 projects submitted from around the world—places her among the top 12% of entries submitted. This also puts her in esteemed company alongside notable figures and entities such as America's Test Kitchen and Jennifer Garner. It likewise signifies Marquez’s impactful contribution to the digital food community.
