Juan TV Reviews: Dolce Amore (ABS-CBN)

The LizQuen love team is one of the biggest in Pinoy showbiz today. And after a long hiatus on Primetime TV since Forevermore, there are back for a "global" teleserye called DOLCE AMORE. Premiered February 15, it was a post-valentine treat for their fans as they can see them again daily on TV.

The story revolves on the backstory (yes, another origin plot, but we still watch them right?) of Serena (Liza) who was separated from her parent because of war. She was adopted by a rich Italian family. Enrique is Tenten who is a orphan kid who grows up to be the "jack-of-all-trades" guy to be a good provider. The two will meet in an unusual moment, and from there the magic happens.

For the Pilot, it is always a plus for scenes shot overseas, they also made a fictional country called "Askovia" where the war caused the unfortunate separation. Lisa made a brief appearance at a party and then they inserted the flashback.

Luciana (Cherie Gil) looks good to play an as her Italian mother, Frenchy Dy plays Serena's Yaya, while in the Philippines Edgar Mortiz (Dodoy), Rio Locsin (Paps) are introduced as the "family" of Tenten, a common sight with teleseryes but they are a good choice of actors for this role.

There is a good balance of Italian and Filipino in the dialogues, just right to connect to the masses. It great to see the grown up Serena at least at the first episode, to give a tease. There are just some scenes that can be told a new way as plot is too cliche for us now. Though I am also interested on Andrew E's role as this would be his big prime time role in ABS-CBN.

I know it would still be early for the story, I hope the flashbacks are not too long, please let them grow up and make more Italian shots and moments. But one thing is certain LizQuen fans would love it as they loved their pair up in Forevermore.

Dolce Amore is part of ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida.
