When talking about the inspiration behind the single Warren states: “HANDSOME is a song from my album BOY OF THE YEAR and it’s a concept based on the fabricated lifestyle of an artist having jewelry and expensive things to feel successful in this journey. I would say this is an experimental rap song with interesting chorus breaks and a completely different Outro segment. The process was really fun because my intent for this song was just to have fun but it turned into a whole new idea.”
Produced with super-producers Stargate, the brilliant collaboration between the headline artists ‘Barricades’ combines Netsky’s trademark energetic production style and knack for a soaring pop chorus with Rita Ora’s distinctive uplifting vocals to produce an anthem sure to soundtrack this summer. The tracks stunning music video features a captivating performance from Rita Ora and was filmed in Los Angeles by director Joe Mischo.
About their “Barricades” collaboration, Netsky says; “I’ve wanted to work with Rita since I heard ‘RIP’, so it was really special to get her and Stargate together in the studio again. We wanted to make a song that really showcased the power of her voice. The song is about the battles people go through being in love. We combined the simple beauty of pop with the power of breaks/drum and bass. I want to make dance music that has honesty and emotion - I think this song is that.”

MTV asked, and fans and artists across the region answered!
MTV believes that everyone should be free in love, and be free to love. In celebration of Pride Month, we invited LGBTQ+ artists from the region to read and react to anonymous fan submissions on all things love. From June to July, they’ll spill the beans in a series of #MTVTellUs videos posted every week across MTV Asia’s Instagram and YouTube.
It seems a lot of listeners find themselves coming back to Parokya Ni Edgar’s gem of a track “Your Song” because right now, it just surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify and still continues to rack up more streams.
The song, which was off the band’s 2003 record Bigotilyo is PNE’s first song to ever hit the said Spotify milestone. Time and time again, the band has been very thankful for all the love this simple love song of theirs has been getting over the years.
What’s also surprising is the fact that “Your Song” was never released as an official single by the band during their Bigotilyo era. The song, clocking in at less than three minutes and was written and sung by guitarist Gab Chee Kee organically rose to popularity during the mid-2000s. Since the song gained massive mainstream popularity, Parokya Ni Edgar decided to include “Your Song” on their Inuman Sessions Vol. 2 setlist back in 2012.

More recently his talent was recognised by the PRS and their PPL Momentum Fund, whose support for developing artists saw live activity across the Spring and him return to Post Electric Studio with long-time producer and collaborator, Rod Jones of Idlewild, to start recording new material towards the much-anticipated follow-up to "Heavy Elevator".
The first taster from these sessions, "Angel Numbers", contains all the whipsmart lyrical prowess and magnetic charm of previous Hawk material, but with a newfound anthemic ambition placed at its front and center, an expansive chorus near leaping from the speaker upon its arrival.

Hamish had the following to say about the themes behind the single:
"Angel Numbers is an ode to the life less traditional. It takes a look at the sacrifices we all make in order to feel we belong. It's a song that asks questions of accepted wisdom; it looks for get-out clauses in mortgage contracts and pokes holes in wedding dresses. It lives in the twists and turns in the out of the ordinary. If there's no blueprint for any of this stuff, how are we supposed to know we're doing it right? Are we all just kids in suits?"
The single is paired to a playful, monochrome video by Hamish Hawk live guitarist and co-writer Andrew Pearson, who makes reference to the religious themes at play, with demons squaring up (and sizing up) to Hamish.

"With the video for Angel Numbers" says Andy, "I wanted to capture these two ideas: the biblical and the material. So we have angels and demons, heaven and hell, Jesus and the Jezebel represented by cheap nylon sheets and overly rough seamstresses. It’s a bit Phantom Thread meets Twin Peaks, Project Catwalk meets Ingmar Bergman but I hope it picks up the metaphorical and literal threads in the song as well as emphasising it’s strange, jerky rhythms."
Rich of voice and even richer of imagination, Hawk creates musical pen-portraits, chamber pop songs that have swallowed both a dictionary and a compendium of modern urban (and island) fairy tales. And Hawk does all this with considerable wit, inspired by artists like Leonard Cohen, Jarvis Cocker, Randy Newman and Stephin Merritt of Magnetic Fields.
